About Scarlet Oak Tavern

At Scarlet Oak we try to strike that perfect balance between elegant and casual.  We want you to be as comfortable having a burger at the bar as you are bringing your kids in for brunch on the weekend, or joining us for a special anniversary dinner.

Our approach to service is to be professional and attentive, without being overbearing or invasive.  Our menu has variety and pricing to suit every diner.  We are continually looking to improve the guest experience and want you to enjoy your time with us.

We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of the local cuisine movement.  We source produce from our own Gibbet Hill Farm in Groton, MA, as well as from other local farms and purveyors.  Seasonality and local ingredients are hallmarks of Executive Chef Stephen Sherman’s menus.  And although our roots are as a steakhouse, we feature a range of menu options, from local seafood to brick oven pizzas, vegetarian dishes, seasonal sides and homemade desserts.

Eleanor Roosevelt called Hingham’s Main Street “the prettiest Main Street in America,” and we’ve tried to honor that sentiment with our careful restoration of one of Hingham’s most beloved buildings and historic restaurants.  We love being a part of such rich history, and we feel it makes the restaurant that much more special.  Scarlet Oak Tavern is a place where locals can gather with friends and family and enjoy a great meal or celebrate a milestone event in a truly memorable setting.
